Face-to-Face – The Battle of Automatic Chronographs – IWC vs. Glashütte Original (the White Dial Edition)

This face-to-face article wasn’t something we actually planned to do… But recently, after shooting photos for the review of the Glashütte Senator Chronograph Panorama Date, I put the watch on my desk, right next to another chronograph… A white dial IWC Portugieser Chronograph 3714. And that’s how the idea for this battle of automatic chronographs emerged. Two slightly Germanic-looking watches, with white dials, elegant but not over-dressed designs, from two of the most respected brands. This is not going to be an easy battle!

Introducing – Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie Chronograph “Secret Alloy” (Live Pics)

Since the reintroduction in 2015 of the name Czapek, Antoine Norbert de Patek’s ex-partner before he founded Patek Philippe, the freshly recreated brand has focused on high-end watchmaking, of course, but also displays a strong appetite for hand-crafted dials, whether they are made in enamel or guilloché. Hands-on – Glashütte Original Senator Chronograph Panorama Date

Glashütte Original presented this steel/white dial version of the Senator Chronograph Panorama Date at Baselworld 2018. Following the design tenets of the steel/black dial model introduced a year before, the two models offer a refreshing, more contemporary take on the original 2014 Senator Chronograph. Powered by calibre 37, a formidable in-house integrated flyback chronograph movement, the 2018 black and white model is a strikingly handsome addition to the line-up. We were able to spend some hands-on time with the watch, so read on for our impressions.

For […]

Hands-on – Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Limited Editions with Gradient Dials

Unless I’m mistaken, we hadn’t seen any Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph models since its debut in 2014. Despite having a distinctive, original presence on the watchmaking scene (and it is, admittedly, one of my favourites watches), this steel sports watch had been relatively discreet. Luckily, the Saxon brand has decided to bring back its TV-shaped […]
