Hands-on – Schwarz Etienne Roswell Irreversible

Launched in 2015, the Roswell collection was inspired by the legendary New Mexico UFO mystery. With its case design featuring rounded dynamic curves, as well as modernly designed and finished dials, it is the most surprising of the brand’s collections. But there’s more to this watch, as with all Schwarz Etienne watches. Indeed, this piece […]

Video – Fred Dingemans of d.m.h on Making his Own Mand-Made Watches

More than ten years ago Fred Dingemans started making watches, in the shed in his garden, using a self-restored lathe that has an interesting history. Since Fred limits his production to a maximum of twenty-four watches a year, the waiting list for one of his watches exceeds twelve months and I’d be fair to state that his watches are quite rare. Every watch is first designed with the client and subsequently build entirely in Fred’s atelier; a process that he shares with the client. Many years after my first visit to Fred Dingemans, we went back with the video crew, to film how Fred makes his watches.

Developed with watchmaker Stephen McDonnell in 2015, the astonishing Legacy Machine Perpetual turned conventional perpetual calendar movements upside down and inside out. Reinventing the QP complication from scratch, with a default 28-day month and a “mechanical processor”, McDonnell’s novel technology eliminates the drawbacks and fragility of conventional QPs and impressed the jury of the GPHG […]

Introducing – Urwerk UR-100 GunMetal (Live Pics & Pricing)

There’s one thing certain about Urwerk… It is a brand like no other. Whether we talk about design, displays or complications, Frei and Baumgartner (the two founders) clearly live on another planet. Even in the small circle of independent watchmakers, they are a breed apart… but that’s what makes them and their creations so fascinating. […]
