The SIHH 2019 has opened its doors and since you all know it is not just about Richemont brands anymore, but other brands are exhibiting as well, it results in a flurry of new watches this time a year. Next up is a new chapter in the HYT fluidic watchmaking adventure, the HYT H1.0. Not entirely new as a mechanical watchmaking concept, but still worth having a look at a significantly redesigned H1.
For now close to a decade, Laurent Ferrier has been known for the beauty of its movements but also for the purity and elegance of its cases – the so-called signature Galet (pebble) case, with sleek, smooth lines. This creative classism has defined the brand and all of its models. For the SIHH 2019, things are about to (slightly) change, with a brand new watch – not only mechanically but also design-wise. New rectangular case and shaped movement, still pure as a Ferrier watch should be, meet the Laurent Ferrier Bridge One.
Since its introduction in 2014 (or even in 2010 if you look at the very first Zero Series, which was the predecessor of this model), the Ressence Type 1 never ceased to evolve. From the lack of crown and the original display, then followed by several colours/finishing and finally the introduction of the Squared version, this watch has become an entire collection named “Air-Filled” (contrasting with the oil-filled watches). Being fast-forward-thinkers (just look at Type 2 to understand), Ressence thought it was about time to give its emblematic watch a touch of modernity. Meet the new Type 1 Slim.
Things go fast for Singer Reimagined. The brand was created just 2 years ago by Rob Dickinson, former singer for Catherine Wheel and founder of Singer Vehicle Design, and, Marco Borraccino, an Italian watch designer and entrepreneur. Their lofty objective is to reimagine high-end watchmaking, infusing classics with novel, unique perspectives and a focus on functionality… Just a few months after its presentation, their first watch, the Track 1 (an impressive chronograph) was awarded best Chronograph at the GPHG 2018, the Oscars of Swiss watchmaking. The second opus in the series has just been presented, the new Singer Reimagined FlyTrack.
This is the new MING 19.02 Worldtimer, the fourth model to be launched by the Malaysian-based brand in less than 2 years.
