Launched just two years ago, the Speake-Marin One&Two is, without a doubt, one of the most striking developments of the brand. The collection is quintessentially Speake-Marin: an off-beat take on classic Swiss watchmaking infused with a touch of British elegance and eccentricity. Not just a pretty face, the One&Two owes a lot to its movement, a nice micro-rotor calibre with a unique small seconds display at 1:30. It now welcomes new complications, with the addition of dual time indication and a retrograde date.
For the SIHH 2019, Montblanc introduces a completely revamped “Heritage” collection – indeed, this collection isn’t entirely new, as already comprising models such as the Heritage Spirit Pulsograph or the Heritage Perpetual Calendar. The latter was a talking piece at the SIHH 2014, for being at that time the most affordable QP on the market. Having a redesigned collection is a thing, but Montblanc decided to give this watch something extra: the brand’s first manufacture perpetual calendar movement. If you’ve seen the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun, you’re familiar with the Naval Fighter Weapons School for elite pilots, established in Southern California in 1969. IWC has paid homage to TOP GUN since 2007 and is releasing its latest three-hand automatic in the series with a new in-house movement and matte black ceramic case. Launched coincidentally with the new Pilot’s Watch Automatic Spitfire, the TOP GUN model also shares the Spitfire’s IWC 32110 automatic calibre, although the case is larger at 41mm (from the Spitfire’s 39mm diameter) with a more modern aesthetic.
