Hands-On – The Updated Rolex Yacht-Master II (and a look back at its great features)

Talking about an update in the case of the “new” Rolex Yacht-Master II is almost ironical, as the changes done by the “Crown” to its Regatta watch are minimal. However, the reality is that we indeed have a new iteration of this niche model, without changing its reference number (Ref. 116680 for the steel version). Something that actually sounds like a nice occasion to look back at the Yacht-Master II and its great functionalities.

The Dive Watch From The Far North – The S.U.F. Helsinki Vetehinen By Sarpaneva

Rough, cold, with a unique character and surprisingly though, fascinating… This description, which you might imagine being dedicated to this contrasting country that is Finland, will be equally relevant when talking about the new S.U.F. Helsinki Vetehinen, the brand’s first dive watch. A Finnish watch made by Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva, playing with the codes and transposing them in his unique universe, resulting in a watch that simply feels different, in a very good way.

Hands On With The Glashütte Original Senator Chronograph Panorama Date in Steel

I don’t know about you but when I think Glashütte Original, I generally think formal watches, exceptionally finished but a bit more sombre in design. That’s not to say the German watchmaker is afraid to use a bit of color (just look at the Sixties Iconic Square collection) but typically speaking, I would not describe the brand’s watches as particularly ‘young’ looking. That is until I got my hands on the new Glashütte Original Senator Chronograph Panorama Date in steel.

Nocturnal Camouflage – The New Bell & Ross BR03-92 Black Camo

After incursions in the world of sports cars (with the Aero-GT collection), in the Formula 1 field (with the BR-X1 RS16 or the brand new RS17 collection), after skull-inspired watches or even high-end watchmaking, Bell & Ross goes back to its beloved roots: military pieces. Stealth, dark, inspired by military-specifications, highly legible but still very much integrated in its environment, here is the new Bell & Ross BR03-92 Black Camo.

MeisterSinger Salthora Meta X – A Surprisingly Cool Single-Hand, Jumping Hour Dive Watch

At first, the new MeisterSinger Salthora Meta X sounded like a big surprise… But not one that we were expecting. In short, MeisterSinger was into single-hand watches with a classy / urban design but not into sports watches, and even less into dive watches. Yet, when you think about it for more than 5 seconds, you understand that this Salthora Meta X is just the natural development of the concept and one of the coolest ideas the brand could have had – and overall, an impressively well-thought timepiece. Let’s see why.

So you have it, following the tradition of special editions dressed in blue, Bucherer and Tudor are now unveiling the brand new and exclusive to the retailer’s stores Tudor Heritage Black Bay Bronze Blue.

A Rapid Increase of Young Watch Start-Ups – Featuring the New “Bronson” by Collins

In the watch industry, there are a number of big players, most of whom work in a way that is almost as fluid as the mechanisms of a watch. Whereas the small brands are worth watching for a different reason, they are driven strictly by their passion for watchmaking and their desire to create new and intuitive products. Young watch start-ups all share a similar goal, and that is to be successful.

Somehow the information leaked out just before SIHH 2017 – Audemars Piguet would be presenting its first all-ceramic watch (bracelet included) during the Geneva fair, an all-black version of the iconic Perpetual Calendar Royal Oak. Not surprisingly this news immediately created a buzz of excitement amongst collectors, because clearly, this Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Black Ceramic is hot.
