LIST: Andrew’s top 10 of 2018, including Patek Philippe, Seiko and Bremont

It’s lovely and ironic. We work with time every day, and yet we are no closer to mastering it. Here we are at the first major watch fair of the year, early in 2019, filming our personal favourites from the year before. While we are clearly late, the extra distance has provided more clarity. I am pretty sure about this elite group of 10; in various ways they have already stood the test of time, and when I think about them, they still come in hot. Often we are compiling lists – as we will do this afternoon, summing up the best of SIHH 2019 in different price points – practically with the new watches in our hands for the first time. SIHH 2019 – Piaget Polo S Green Dial Limited Edition

It’s a new year and a new colour for Piaget’s sporty Polo S. After the more sombre tones of 2017’s Black ADLC / Rubber Limited Editions, Piaget is livening things up with a green dial and complementary dark green alligator leather strap. It’s a bold choice but one that really seems to work for this model. I’m not sure it will be enough to win over the Polo S’ more vocal critics but you never know.
