MB&F has always been built around collaborations with other watchmakers/designers/friends. All about the brand turns around collaborations, which led to the creation, over the 11 years of existence of the brand, of some of the boldest watches of modern days. But not only… These joint-ventures also brought some ultra-cool pieces, such as music machines or timekeeping UFOs, a mix between art sculptures and table clocks. After Destination Moon, Balthazar or Melchior, all of them inspired by space and sci-fi, here is Octopod, the newest collab table-clock made with L’Epée 1839 – and this time we move into aquatic themes.
The two brands’ latest collaboration draws its design from the world’s smartest invertebrate.
If you’re ‘into’ watches, it’s easy to fall into a perception that a higher price naturally equates to higher value and quality. However, Seiko’s colourful and decidedly wallet-friendly Presage Cocktail Time turns these assumptions on their head, with an RRP well south of $1000 and a wrist presence that can compete with watches 10 times the price. Simply put, the Cocktail Time is a winner because it’s fun, and that’s mostly down to the dials. Take that away and you have a well-priced 40mm steel dress watch. Nice, but unremarkable. The Cocktail Time takes classic dressy tropes and turns the fun factor all the way up. There are bright colours, interesting textures, reflections and a dazzling play of light. The only way this watch could be more of a party would be if Seiko popped an actual disco ball on the wrist (I wouldn’t put it past them). And, of course, the cocktail association doesn’t hurt the cause either. Seiko has smartly made the boozy link explicit, matching the icy-blue dial with a Sky Diving, the brown with a Manhattan and the deep blue with a Moonlit Night (more on this later…), allowing you to identify with your favourite in…

Australia is a sports-mad country, so it makes sense that the current Heuer Globetrotter exhibition has seen an allocation of sports-related Heuer models take the place of new stock on the floor of the world’s most profitable TAG Heuer boutique per square metre, in Sydney’s CBD. The exhibition is at the TAG Heuer boutique, 188 Pitt Street, Sydney, until September 30. The concept of Heuer Globetrotter, which has spread 400 of the rarest Heuer watches across 10 cities and 10 boutiques, all open to the public at no charge, is a master stroke from TAG Heuer for several reasons: It has brought the whole globe into the action. The TAG Heuer team have taken the concept of a vintage watch roadshow, unbundled and localised it – splitting the 400 watches, all extremely rare and collectible, into themed groups. Each exhibition is presented in a different city by a different Heuer collector. Each city’s theme was chosen by its key collector. It involves a key member of our team! It is with not a small dose of pride that we learnt that the local Heuer expert was to be David Chalmers, a co-founder of Time+Tide and raving Heuer fanatic. He launched the exhibition with the…

In recent years, Bell & Ross enlarged its collections, as no longer only focused on military-inspired pieces like in the past but around several themes, such as Air, Marine or Racing. The latter has been widely used in the past collections, with watches inspired by Formula 1 (B&R is a partner of Renault F1) or specifically designed sports-cars. Today, the Parisian brand creates another speed-inspired piece, with original retro feelings. Here are the Bell & Ross Vintage BR V1-92 and BR V2-94 Bellytanker.
Everyone has a grail watch; this one’s mine.
MeisterSinger is a brand apart… Indeed, they are the only watchmaker to offer only watches with a specific display, based on the “single-hand” concept – in various sizes, in various styles, with or without additional features, but always with one hand only to indicate the time. This has become a hallmark for MeisterSinger. Today, if the Mono-Aiguille idea is still perfectly present, the brand is launching a refreshing concept, with no less than 45 different limited editions, the MeisterSinger No. 01 City Edition, each of them as a tribute to the cities where its retailers are based.
