Bring a Loupe: A Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700, An Early Breguet Type 20, A Zenith Super Sub-Sea Chronograph, And More

This week we’re making a special place for some special chronographs. Some are military issue, like the Breguet Type 20, and others have unusual features, like the full set Heuer Carrera 3647S, or the “Fab. Suisse” dial of the Longines 30CH. REVIEW – URWERK UR-T8, The Transformer

UR for URWERK. T for Transformer. 8 for the motion of this reversible case. Add 20 for the 20th anniversary of the brand, and you’ll have the URWERK UR-T8, a watch that is just the concentrate of everything Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner have created so far, everything they tried to express in their watches since 1997, everything they experienced in terms of style and way to indicate the time. The UR-T8 is all of that. It’s bold, it’s futuristic, it’s provocative, it’s highly unusual… It’s everything why we love URWERK, and more than that. See, we love it… but here is why.

Review: Montblanc Timewalker Chronograph 1000

The newly released Montblanc Timewalker Chronograph 1000 is certainly an intriguing proposition. Two wheel trains with two balance wheels, one running at 18,000 bph, and another at 360,000 bph. Hands-On – The New Ressence Type 5G, The Full Titanium Diver

When it has been launched, back in December 2015, we’ve been fairly surprised with the Ressence Type 5… In a very good way, this has to be said. For sure, a dive watch from Ressence was really not expected, however, when knowing the evolution of the concept initialized with the Type 3, it felt like a natural evolution. Apart from the cool display, this watch, thanks to its oil-filled dial, allowed to be the only mechanical dive watch with zero reflections underwater (and if you’re doubtful, see our field test here). Just between the SIHH and the upcoming Baselworld, Ressence now comes with a full titanium version of this watch, the Type 5G, and it has some arguments to convince. And after you saw it yesterday on all our competitors’ websites with press photos, we, at Monochrome, go hands-on with it.
