As a sponsor of the 27th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), IWC marked the occasion with the inaugural IWC Filmmaker Award for the region, handed to Trần Anh Hùng. An award-winning Vietnamese-born French director, Trần is best known for Cyclo and The Scent of Green Papaya, which clinched the Caméra d’Or at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival. Ever since the female of the species began wearing trousers circa the 1920s, they’ve been gradually but persistently encroaching into the territory of men. Never has the saying ‘give them an inch’ been more relevant. Next minute, they had the right to follow whatever career path they fancied and the freedom to get a short haircut without bringing shame on the entire family, and the world was upside down. Women wearing men’s watches is just the latest example of this invasion – and you know what? Get used to it. Full disclosure: I am a woman, so I’ll stop with this ‘they’ nonsense. I heartily recommend this tome to anyone interested in horology, and as a holiday gift as well!
The ability to keep track of multiple time zones instantly can make life easier for many travelers and professionals, and that’s where a GMT watch comes in handy. If that sounds useful, and you also tend to like the straightforward Teutonic take on tool watches that German brands are often known for, the Mühle-Glashütte Terrasport IV GMT may just be an attractive combination.
As it’s the weekend after Thanksgiving and most Americans are either exhausted from eating too much or from being dragged to the mall to fight the crowds (this idea of Black Friday is spreading around the globe by the way), we thought we’d lighten your spirits by giving you a mini #TBT “Just Because” about […]
Among the novelties presented by Zenith at Baselworld 2016 were two open-worked versions of the El Primero Chronograph revealing a side of their iconic movement we are not used to seeing. The first one is a “simple” chronograph while the other is regulated by a Tourbillon. As the Le Locle-based manufacture is now launching internationally both models, Monochrome takes a closer look at the Zenith El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton.
