Found: Not One, But Two Early Roger W. Smith Watches For Sale Online

You very rarely see Roger W. Smith watches come up for sale online. If fact, we’ve only ever seen it happen once before. The watch in question? The very first Series 2 the Englishman ever made. Now, a second early Series 2 has appeared online, and once again its been secured by the folks from The Watch Xchange, a relatively young online platform with a focus on high and independent watchmaking (and with some good connections it seems). Oh, and they’re also selling one of the first Daniels Anniversary watches too. Both watches are fresh to market and come from separate consigners.

Watches and Formula 1 – Episode 3 – Mercedes AMG & IWC Schaffhausen

After a long hiatus over the summer, and the sometimes literal clash between Mercedes AMG F1 drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton reaches new levels race by race, it is time to look at the current leader of the pack for this third chapter in our Watches and Formula 1 series. Mercedes AMG F1 is the team that rose from the ashes of Brawn GP which in turn bailed out Honda Racing F1 Team. If you remember our first episode of this series, we covered the origin of motor racing, including the birth of Grand Prix racing and the start of Formula 1 in 1950. Coincidently, Mercedes played a major role in both of these! It just so happens that the German manufacturer teamed up with a Swiss Watchmaker from day one; IWC Schaffhausen!

Introducing: The Baume & Mercier My Classima Collection, Starting At Just $990 (But There’s A Catch)

Baume & Mercier recently announced a quite interesting perpetual calendar (in a gold case, with a well-proportioned dial) as the latest in a series of watches in its Clifton collection that presents a high complication in a limited series. The opposite pole of the company, however, is its many more accessibly priced watches; though Baume & Mercier has had a pretty high-profile alliance with Shelby over the last few years, it is still wallet-friendly and gifting-oriented watches that form the core of what Baume & Mercier offers. In keeping with this general direction, Baume & Mercier’s just launched a new family of watches in the Classima collection called My Classima, which aim to be timelessly styled, classically-proportioned, and versatile wristwatches for under $1,000.

Breguet Classique 7147 Watch Hands-On

Today, let’s look at the elegantly simple and very satisfying new-for-2016 Breguet Classique 7147, here in 18k white gold. My love affair with many of the brand’s products such as this one continues despite the company’s mostly absent use of modern marketing or widespread communication that can easily lead one to forget the brand exists much of the time.

VIDEO: We asked Oscar Hunt Tailors to design a suit to match the Clé de Cartier

chris-edwards-cleThe idea is at once compelling and faintly ridiculous. Ask Oscar Hunt Tailors, who specialise in made to measure suits, to tailor a suit to a watch. That’s right. Treat a watch like a person – look at its shoulders, its shape and move to accentuate, flatter and embrace it with perfectly matched suiting. Not just any watch, though; the Cartier Clé de Cartier, one of our favourite releases of 2015, which charms with its ‘shape in shape’ case design, quite a breach from Cartier’s usually faithful one-shape story. Like Felix said at the time, it presents a soft geometric curve surrounding a circular dial and evokes Cartier’s spirit of classic elegance while giving a nod to the bold designs that characterised ’60s and ’70s watch design.” The mission was simple enough. The response required, it turns out, a lot of thought.
